Letter from Lisa Perry-Wood

First Parish in Brookline Friends,

I am absolutely overjoyed to accept your call as your next settled Senior Minister! I will always remember Sunday, May 6th as one of the happiest days of my life. I cannot imagine a more perfect fit for all of us and I am already eagerly anticipating the beginning of our journey together on August 1st! Until then, know that you are in my thoughts and prayers, as you complete your work with the wonderful and talented Rev. Rebecca Bryan. May you find peace and a sense of completion in these final weeks and may yours be a “good” goodbye; one with tears and sadness perhaps, but also a sense of pride in what you have achieved. I am truly appreciative of all of the hard and good work you have done together.

I want to invite any of you who would like to join me for my ordination on Sunday, June 3rd, 3:00pm, at First Parish in Lexington, 7 Harrington Rd. I will be co-ordained by my home church in Lexington and First Religious Society in Carlisle, the church where I spent two years as a ministerial intern. This joyous occasion will include two choirs, many longtime friends and family members, and colleagues from near and far. Your presence will enhance the joy and celebration!

Until we see each other in August, I hope that you enjoy these fleeting days of Spring and have some restful and relaxing Summer days. I’ll end my work at First Parish in Bedford, mid-June, and then travel to Kansas City for General Assembly; I hope to see some of you there. After that, I’ll spend two weeks on an island without cars or wifi, with all my children and grandchildren – a treat we look forward to all year! I’m sure to have some stories from that time to share with you in the Fall.

Please take good care of yourselves and each other until we meet again.

With love and gratitude,
