Music at First Parish in Brookline
Director of Music Danica A. Buckley began her career in choral conducting by cajoling high school friends to sing with her in various performances. She continued her conducting education by founding and leading numerous groups and being involved with opera and musical theatre in North Carolina, Vermont, Pennsylvania, and Cape Cod while completing a BA in English from Norwich University, an MA in English from North Carolina State University, and then teaching English and Music. During several summers, she attended choral conducting seminars at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ, and most recently she earned her MM in Choral Conducting from Boston Conservatory in 2006. In addition to her work at First Parish in Brookline, she is Conductor of the Choral Art Society (a community chorus on the south shore), the Braintree Choral Society, and the Simmons Chorale.

The Choir at First Parish is open to all who want to raise their voice in the spirit of love and community. The choir sings at virtually every worship service from September to June and occasionally at special services and other church events. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays 7:30-9:00 and Sundays 9:30-10:30. Junior Choir, Ed Loechler, Director
The Junior Choir is open to children in grades 3 to 8. New members are welcome at any time! Led by beloved church member and Junior Choir Director, Ed Loechler, the choir's broad repertoire includes: classical music, traditional gospel songs, UU hymns, and contemporary rock/pop music. In addition to singing, Junior Choir members may participate as instrumental accompaniment using a variety of instruments, including guitar, piano, stringed instruments, and others. Rehearsals are Sunday mornings at 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. The choir participates in the main church service at 11:00 a.m. on most Sundays and once a month in the Children’s Worship Service. Choir robes are provided.
